Michael and I already picked up tickets to the conference. The very awesome Gregg Pollack of Orlando’s own Ruby User Group will be giving the very first presentation of the conference. Tickets are gonna go fast, so if you’re in the Ruby/Rails scene, sign up soon. And, if you go, look for us. We’ll be the cool kids in the back of the room.

Tim and I got some great Ruby on Rails work in on a little startup project that previewed at ROFLcon and we’re hoping to have the time to finish it up shortly so it can make its public debut in a few weeks.

We’ve also got two other redesigns, a new site and a new mobile version getting ready to launch in the coming days and weeks!

The whole crew is hard at work from home. The storm track has shifted a bit to the east so it looks like that nasty northeast corner of the storm is going to miss us. Its still a bit windy and it looks to be picking up outside soon. The news is reporting that we’re in for 6 inches of rain this afternoon. So while Tropical Storm Fay may not be Hurricane Charley, it was the safe decision to keep everyone at home. Another safe decision that we made (and we’re very happy about right now) is where to locate our servers. We do not keep our web servers in Florida so storms like this can’t affect our clients’ service.

With a third of the team out of the office today, we’re running on a skeleton crew and still rocking out the work. Hot on the heels of our two launches this week, we’re preparing two more and that is just for next week.

Adrian has just put the finishing touches on a new Sayfie Review website that launches first thing Monday morning. We’re excited and they’re excited because the site has a whole new look and some great new features. Look for the launch and a big blog post with all the juicy details after the weekend.

Next week we’ll also be launching the new Community Based Care Partnership website. The Community Based Care Partnership is a joint venture between CBC lead agencies, Florida Coalition for Children and Magellan Behavioral Health of Florida to develop a pre-paid mental health system for children in the dependency system.

Tim here, writing in about a new site we’ve got launched for Scantron. It’s ScantronEvents.com, and we built it at Scantron’s request to help them manage user registrations for the events they host around the country.

This isn’t the first event registration system we’ve built, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Some of the events companies host are huge, and the frequency at which the events occur is enough to have people on the payroll just to keep on top of things.

For example, there’s another event management system I worked on a while back, for Harland Financial Solutions (Scantron is actually a division of Harland). They’re a great company who we’ve done a lot of work for over the years, and they are constantly hosting meetings and other events.

We custom-built a complete event management system for Harland Financial. It handles nearly all steps of managing the attendees: from initial registration, to printing name badges and customized schedules for each attendee. We’ve even made it so that the event management system can take the attendee data, combined with data about the conference center, and automatically assign sessions to rooms to optimize space usage. I’m told that this one feature alone saves them two human-weeks of work per event!

If you’ve ever wished for a tool to make managing events easier, or want to find ways to cut down on other time-intensive tasks, get in touch with us. We’re great at finding ways to make it easier for you to do what you need to.

With this post I declare that these moments of inspiration shall slip by no more!

I’m hoping to use this blog to let everyone know about the various things going on here at cloudspace. Notices about new projects, server/system upgrades, and general techy things will hopefully fill this space and provide an informative and interesting read. So welcome to the first of many blog postings by myself and the staff here at cloudspace!
