Mock It Out

Check out our newest project: Cloudspace Mockups, an open-source tool that allows users to collaborate on mockups, which can present value to product teams and startups that need to throw around feature ideas quickly and easily for their engineers and designers to build upon.

A good example of a lo-tech mockup would be to draw a wireframe on a whiteboard. Pictures of the whiteboard are then passed around to a product team (a technique we’re all-too-familiar with). This rough solution gets the job done, but professional products like Balsamiq, Tiggr, or mockingbird are far better at conveying the message. Given our expertise at Cloudspace, we figured we could give something back to the open source community by coding our own collaborative mockup creator, inspired by an ease-of-use that allows you to work on and share projects with as little overhead as possible.

Features

Our alpha version is the most minimal version that will fit our current needs. Here is a list of the features:

Common elements necessary for creating web pages
Elements can be modified in size and content
Real-time collaboration
Shareable, obscure URLs
Password protection for your sensitive projects
Compatible with touchscreen devices like the iPad

Free as in Freedom and Free as in Beer

It is said that many good products are born out of frustration. And although many of the current choices for creating mockups are great, they either cost money or cannot be freely altered to fit our needs. Cloudspace Mockups is both free to use and free to alter to fit your own needs.

Of course, we’ll continue development on Cloudspace Mockups, and we plan on adding several more useful features:

copy/paste canvas objects
snap-to-grid
pdf or png exports
RESTful API
image uploads
auto-resizing text

Sayfie Media launches new Sayfie Business website

We’ve just launched Sayfie Business, a new site for our good friend Justin Sayfie of Sayfie Media. This site is dedicated to Florida business news. It will feature daily links to the top business stories and has a blog ticker and a stock ticker so you have access to the most current news.

This is the third news site in the Sayfie Media empire. It follows Sayfie Review (Florida politics) and Sayfie News (National politics). Sayfie Media is also responsible for Florida political social network, Purple Florida.

Partnership for Strong Families launches fresh site redesign

The Network Builder, Zentact, has launched!

Zentact helps you network better and transforms your contacts into relationships. Cloudspace has been working with and building Zentact with Eric Marcoullier, Jared Brandt, and John Sampson. Just get your contacts in there, tag them and begin surfing the web; Zentact will let you know when you are on a page that is interesting to one of your contacts and give you the opportunity to reach out to them.

A Few Visual Tweaks for USF New Student Programs Site

We’ve just put the finishing touches on a redesign to the Univeristy of South Florida’s New Student Programs website. We’ve changed from a three column layout to a two column layout. The big pictures are now widescreen instead of square and it is looking really good!

Redesigned Heartland for Children site launches

New Mobile Version for FlashReport

FlashReport, the place to go for California political news has just expanded their audience. We’ve just launched a new mobile version of FlashReport site so that users on the go can access their daily links, blog entries, daily commentaries, and special columns. They’ve even got a cool new Blackberry application so that Blackberry users can launch the mobile version right from their application menu.

A New Look for Greenblock

The first of two current ongoing redesigns has just launched. Adrian has just refreshed the look of the Greenblock site by applying a great updated look designed by Greenblock designer Bunny. The new logo and rotating tag lines in the header reflect an update in their corporate branding. We’ve also made some subtle changes to the backgrounds and updated the random pictures to eliminate flash.

Starting the Week with a Midnight Launch Party

Woohoo! The new Sayfie Review has been released to the public. We wanted to make sure everything was perfect for Monday’s news at 7am so Adrian, Matt and I got together last night to launch the new look at midnight. We gathered around 10pm and did some final checks, updated the staging site with the latest news that had been added to the live site over the weekend and then changed the routing around midnight. While waiting for the domain to route, we did a few last minute tweaks and updates and called it a night around 2:30.

This morning Sayfie Review is its own lead headline. They’ve got a great page that talks about the new features.

Great job everyone and this isn’t the end, we’re already working with the Sayfie Media team on some new features for Sayfie Review 2.1.

So Many Launches

With a third of the team out of the office today, we’re running on a skeleton crew and still rocking out the work. Hot on the heels of our two launches this week, we’re preparing two more and that is just for next week.

Adrian has just put the finishing touches on a new Sayfie Review website that launches first thing Monday morning. We’re excited and they’re excited because the site has a whole new look and some great new features. Look for the launch and a big blog post with all the juicy details after the weekend.

Next week we’ll also be launching the new Community Based Care Partnership website. The Community Based Care Partnership is a joint venture between CBC lead agencies, Florida Coalition for Children and Magellan Behavioral Health of Florida to develop a pre-paid mental health system for children in the dependency system.
